Copyright and translated titles in Russia: One Author's Tale

Clare Bell, author of the Young Adult Fantasy series, Ratha, discusses her experience with publishing in Russia at her blog today.  Because of the availability of pirated copies online, the publisher (OLMA) may forgo publication of the second book in the series despite the fact Ratha has found critical acclaim and readers.

It's an interesting first-hand account from the point of view of a writer translated for the Russian marketplace.

What do you think of the publishing landscape in Russia today for translated writers and writing from the perspective of pirating and file sharing?
